The question everyone asks is why I chose marketing, what got me into this field? Well… In my freshman year of high school I had an option to choose an elective, and I wasn't really sure what to choose, but my mom encouraged me to try the introduction to business class. She said I'd be great and that I'm good at writing and am creative. She was always so positive and I decided to do it. Fast forward to senior year and I completed the entire program for marketing, sales, and services. I really enjoyed every class and I felt like I was learning and creating things that could work in the real world. One project that stood out to me was an assignment to use techniques in an ad. I decided to do an ad on a Nike basketball shoe, and at the time I was obsessed with basketball. I created the ad and I thought it was so cool and I continued creating little projects like that.

Fast forward again senior year of high school and the and the Covid pandemic hit. I choose with my family that best option was to go to community college at the time. I went to Las Positas College in my hometown and declared as a business major. I really enjoyed my business law class, psychology and film studies and it all helped me lean into business more. During the pandemic classes were all online and everyone had more time so all we had was entertainment. I remember the growth of a new app called TikTok and it was so interesting to me the rise that occurred and how people my age blew up on the app. Then social media content houses started forming and I saw these people getting these great big brand deals. People and brands were so creative on TikTok and I knew there was business behind it. I was familiar with Instagram and Youtube and the influencers on there such as Emma Chamberlain and Noah Beck. Digital marketing was growing more and more and contained my interests in sports, pop culture and education. The idea of this was fascinating and I wanted to learn even more and enter this space.

Fast forward once again and I get my associates degree and transfer to San Diego State University where I chose to concentrate in marketing. I knew how I could get into the position I wanted to be in. I Started a marketing athletics internship and seeing the behind the scenes was so interesting. Combining business and marketing can create big things. I created even more projects and I found myself being passionate about the future of business and marketing.
